Dear Capon Friends:
To kick off this season’s wrap-up, we’re delighted to share a special message from our General Manager, Liz Saylor:
It has been a couple of weeks since we bid farewell to our last guests of the 2025 season. There was an abrupt shift from smelling homemade baked goods and BBQ chicken to fighting over office fridge space at the realization that we are back to packing our own lunches for the next few months. A shift from hearing families reunited, friendships rekindled, and kids soaking in the freedom that only a place such as Capon can provide… to discussing, planning, and working towards everything needed to make next season even better than the last.
In a world and time where each season brings new challenges, we remain grounded and committed to the mission set forth by Lou & Virginia Austin almost a century ago. Our management team remains humbled by the guests, co-workers, and Austin family members that carried the spirit of Capon through the generations before us and those who now entrust us to usher it into the future. We appreciate everyone who called Capon home this season, even if only for a brief period in time.
This off-season there are still exciting things happening at Capon… The Capon elves are fervently working to delight you all with Christmas cheer (to get those orders in, see below). Our spa remains open Friday through Monday throughout the winter (nothing compares to the warmth of a soaking bath on a cold winter day). Our front office team is working with you all to solidify your 2026 reservation requests (please make sure we hear from you) and preparing to transition to a new property management system (see ya later, complicated bills!).
As many of you may know, the future plans to build a new playhouse (i.e. kiddie corner) we expedited this year after an unfortunate accident. Ever so grateful that no one was injured, we are now working with the guest council and the Board to envision a new place for our youngest guests to play in, perhaps in an even better location. More to come on this as we work through the best options for Capon and our guests.
As we rest and recharge for 2026, we look forward to having you pop in to say hello as you refill your Capon water and hearing from you all via phone and email. We wish you all a wonderful and safe holiday season with cherished time spent with family and friends.
